Concept: “INDIA” is a 3.5ft. x 3.5ft. triptych inspired by the concept of time, existence and being: a microcosm of the macrocosm; a multilayered piece symbolising the multi-layered/faceted culture of India. This art piece was created intuitively as a piece of poetry or rhythmic music, where the three individual pieces are united by synchrony of colour, texture and symbolic aspects. These artworks are infused by luminosity, vividness, technical intricacy with tranquility, where light, beauty and expression reign supreme. The vivid burst of colours and Indian inspired motifs represents India’s diverse, culturally bejewelled richness in harmony, symbolically, in an expressive and contemporary style.

“Home and Transcendence”
Mixed Media (Acrylics and Watercolours with Lentils, Spices and Grass on Stretched and Primed Canvas), 24” x 18”, 2020
(Unavailable)

Contemporary art

Concept: The painting is to be seen as divided into three different abstracted maps: 1) India’s Map; 2) Agra’s/Yamuna’s Map; 3) An Abstracted World Map; and the 4) portion is “True Home.”

“Home and Transcendence ” is a conceptual painting in a contemporary style. This painting is an expression of how the idea of “home” transcends the concept of four walls and a roof; home in all veracity is more of an intangible feeling.

In this painting, synchronicity and syncretism of various landmasses of the world as well as the inclusion of  grains, lentils, and wheat grasses remind us that when we respect nature and work in it with our hands on a daily basis we are interconnected with and respectful of Mother Earth.  When there is a holistic balance and harmony of human, earth and the universe then all is well in the world.

Interwoven in between is the arabesque and jaali-esque hand-work inspired by the heritage architecture of Agra, all tied up with the river Yamuna flowing in between the fields of wheat and rice and limitless atmosphere, which aims to depict one thing: Home is the microcosm of the macrocosm. Our four-walled structure interconnects to the lands we live in, our family, culture, the feeling of peace and joy, to finally reach the One Ultimate Home, depicted at the very top.

“Synchronised Synthesis”
Acrylic on Canvas, 28” x 28”, 2020
(Available)

Contemporary art

Concept: “Synchronised Synthesis,” as the name suggests, is a synthesis of various sources that inspired me from history, all coming together on the canvas in synchrony. For instance, the earthen browns are inspired by Ajanta, India and the choice of blue is inspired by the eggshell tempera blue used in the Sistine Chapel, Italy.

Since I am also trained in music, rhythm played an important role in creation of this art piece, as seen in the harmonious merging of colors in space and texture.

“Luminescence”
Acrylic on Canvas, 40” x 22”, 2020
(Unavailable)

Contemporary art

Concept: Part of my latest series, “Luminescence” is a meditative exploration of time and space. Through my choice of earthy colours with an atmospheric blue peeping from behind the soft strokes and vivacious texture work, this artwork is a sort of celebration of the old and new times, intermingling in space.
